Dubai Cares, in partnership with the Ban Ki-moon Centre for Global Citizens (BKMC), launched the Green Jobs for Youth – Online Training and Mentoring’ program to empower young people as proactive leaders in climate action. The program aimed to equip youth with a comprehensive understanding of the climate crisis and their individual role in driving positive environmental change. By aligning their skills and aspirations with career pathways in the green economy, the program supported young participants in unlocking their full potential while contributing to innovative climate solutions.

The initiative provided mentorship and guidance to youth interested in green career paths, helping them develop the knowledge and confidence needed to succeed in climate-related sectors. A key component of the program involved preparing a cohort of mentees to design and implement SDG Micro-Projects—community-based initiatives developed by BKMC fellows, mentees, and scholars to address one or more Sustainable Development Goals at local, national, or international levels.

In addition to directly supporting youth, the program’s online training course also indirectly benefited a broader ecosystem that included parents, job providers, policymakers, and the general public, all of whom play a role in fostering an enabling environment for a just and inclusive transition to a green economy.
