Dubai Cares supported the Ghana School Feeding Program (GSFP), a poverty reduction initiative launched by the Ghanaian government in 2005 that targets school-age children living in poverty and food insecurity. Through this program, Dubai Cares helped strengthen the government’s capacity to improve the utilization of food by school children and food-insecure households, promote educational outcomes, and reduce parasitic infections among school-age children.

The program’s activities focused on behavioral change communications at both the school and community levels, the use of Micronutrient Powders (MNPs) to enhance the nutritional content of school meals, the implementation of a School Meals Planner (SMP) to assist in meal preparation, and support for the national deworming exercise.
