Dubai Cares worked in the northeastern and southwestern regions of Bangladesh to improve the lives of disadvantaged children by providing access to quality non-formal primary education. The program was built on a curriculum and methodology developed by Dubai Cares’ partner, designed to complement the national education system. These community-based initiatives enabled children with little or no access to formal schooling to achieve learning outcomes on par with those in government schools.

The program established a network of non-formal education centers equipped with essential textbooks and learning materials. Community teachers and assistants received training in effective teaching practices, subject knowledge, and positive discipline. In addition to education, the program offered health and nutrition support to children, enhancing their overall well-being. A series of manuals were also developed to guide teaching methods, school hygiene practices, flexible curricula, and parental engagement.
