Dubai Cares, in partnership with Stichting Aflatoun International, launched a comprehensive educational program designed to transform the lives of girls and boys aged 14 to 19 through social and financial education delivered using participant-centered learning methods. The program empowered adolescents to establish savings clubs and develop both social and financial enterprises, equipping them with practical skills for long-term resilience and self-reliance.
Using a gender-sensitive curriculum, the program addressed key social challenges prevalent in Mali, Niger, and Togo, including gender roles, child marriage, child labor, and reproductive health. The overall objective was to adapt, contextualize, test, replicate, and scale the Aflateen+ curriculum across these three countries. In doing so, the program successfully built the capacity of 21 local partners, seven in each country, to effectively deliver and sustain the initiative at the community level.
