This program aimed to enhance access to quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) through a pilot intervention composed of a range of integrated activities. It provided regular in-service training and coaching for ECE teachers to strengthen instructional practices, while also building the education system’s capacity to equip children with the school readiness skills needed to succeed in primary school. In parallel, the program empowered school leaders, parent-teacher committee members, and education officials at both district and sector levels with the tools and knowledge required to manage limited resources more effectively. Inclusion was mainstreamed throughout the targeted district to ensure children with disabilities were actively supported and integrated into the learning environment.

In addition, the program aimed to support and monitor school feeding in 12 primary schools, with the goal of improving attendance and learning outcomes. It improved facilities in these schools to create safe and healthy learning environments and encouraged higher student participation in the school feeding program by providing healthy and nutritious meals. The program also delivered ongoing nutrition awareness to parents and to those preparing meals under the school feeding initiative, ensuring food standards and hygiene practices were maintained consistently.
