- Direct Beneficiaries: 44,100
The program targeted poor remote communities where the challenges around the development of education, such as lack of adequate schooling facilities, resources, trained teachers (particularly females) and negative social attitude towards girls’ education, were prevalent. The construction of school buildings alone was not a sufficient solution; an integrated approach was needed. This included ongoing community mobilization, awareness raising campaigns, training of community leaders and representatives and the provision of gender-appropriate water, sanitation, and hygiene resources.
