The program aimed to address gender disparities and the barriers girls faced in pursuing Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), aligning with the post-MDG agenda that positioned STEM as a key driver of socio-economic development. It focused on improving the participation and performance of girls in STEM subjects at the secondary school level, while also building the capacity of participating institutions to promote STEM education among girls. The program implemented innovative, engaging, and girl-friendly approaches to STEM learning, making the subjects more accessible and appealing. In addition, it established effective and efficient systems for monitoring, evaluation, and learning, and prioritized documentation and knowledge management to support the scaling and sustainability of its efforts.
