In partnership with the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA)), Dubai Cares launched the “Rebuild Palestine. Start with Education” initiative to support children in Gaza affected by the 2014 conflict. The program aimed to restore access to education and provide vital psycho-social support to help students cope with the trauma of war.
As part of this initiative, children enrolled in 151 United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNWRA) schools benefited from weekly arts and sports classes facilitated by specialized teachers. These sessions were designed not only to engage students but also to offer structured psycho-social support through creative and physical activities. Teachers also received training to effectively integrate counselling approaches into their classes. In addition, students received focused psycho-social support to help them build resilience and overcome the emotional impact of the conflict.
