The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs allocated USD 1 million from the UAE emergency response fund, through Dubai Cares and in partnership with BRAC, to support education in emergencies as part of the response to the Rohingya crisis. Dubai Cares further contributed an additional USD 1 million in support of the UAE’s nationwide humanitarian campaign, launched under the directives of the UAE’s President, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The program aimed to address the urgent educational and humanitarian needs of the affected Rohingya population. It supported the provision of improved early learning and non-formal primary education, benefiting approximately 1,280 children through the establishment of eight two-storied learning centers. The program also included the distribution of critical non-food items (NFIs)—such as clothing, shoes, and hygiene kits to around 16,000 children, ensuring they could attend classes with dignity and comfort.
In addition, 200 water points equipped with stands and water pots were established across 200 learning centers to improve access to clean water and support a safe and healthy learning environment.
