Dubai Cares aimed to increase access to quality Early Childhood Education (ECE) through a pilot intervention that brought together a range of activities. These included providing regular in-service training and coaching for ECE teachers, strengthening the education system’s capacity to equip children with the school readiness skills needed to succeed in primary school, and empowering school leaders, parent-teacher committee members, district education officials, and sector education officials with the necessary skills to better manage their limited resources. The intervention also mainstreamed inclusion across the targeted district to ensure the integration of children with disabilities.
In addition, the program aimed to provide and monitor school feeding in 12 primary schools, improve school facilities to create a healthier and safer learning environment, and encourage higher student participation in the school feeding program by offering healthy and nutritious meals. The program also provided ongoing nutrition and standards awareness to parents and individuals responsible for preparing meals under the school feeding initiative.
