This program focused on Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and was designed to provide tourism-related courses to students in upper secondary education, equipping them with the necessary skills to gain decent employment in, and contribute to, the sustainability of Ecuador’s travel and tourism industry. The program aimed to upgrade teachers’ technical and pedagogical competences through a combination of training, peer learning, and remote coaching that emphasized both what to teach and how to teach it. In addition, the program developed teaching materials that highlighted the importance of sustainable tourism and brought structure to the content of selected teaching modules by providing highly organized lesson plans and instructions for competency-based teaching. The program also supported students with relevant and practical experiences during their studies by offering project-based workplace learning opportunities.
