Dubai Cares’ program aimed to support the integrated intervention model developed by Kusi Warma, a Peru-based local NGO, called MAIPI. The model consisted of providing access for children aged 0 to 3 years to Early Childhood Development (ECD) centers, parenting education, capacity building of communities and local authorities, and raising awareness about the rights of pre-school children as well as the responsibilities of caregivers and authorities in ensuring those rights.
The program aimed to provide comprehensive care including health, nutrition, early education, and protection to 500 children between the ages of 0 and 3 through access to ECD centers and home visits. It also sought to improve parenting knowledge and skills for 351 families. Additionally, the program ensured that the communities of Ventanilla and Turpo could monitor the growth and development of children under 3 years old and lead initiatives supporting young children. Finally, it worked to secure the commitment of local government bodies, including the Ministries of Health and Education, to early childhood development interventions and to ensure proper care and attention for the children.
