Dubai Cares, in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), launched a program to support school feeding at the African Union (AU) level. The program aimed to strengthen the policy and institutional frameworks for school feeding across the continent by focusing on four strategic priorities.
It strengthened the technical capacities and coordination of continental activities through the African Union Commission (AUC) School Feeding Cluster. It also supported the design and implementation of a continental and regional advocacy strategy to boost political commitment and mobilize resources for school feeding initiatives. In addition, the program facilitated the development and implementation of the first Africa-wide school health and nutrition database, positioning it as a continental public good to inform policy and programming. Finally, it provided strategic evidence, based on programs implemented across Africa, to guide decision-makers in making informed investments in school health and school feeding systems.
