Dubai Cares, in partnership with the Aga Khan Foundation, launched the "Teachers for the Planet: Roadmap to COP28" program with the goal of placing educators at the center of climate action in education. The initiative aimed to mobilize a new global community of practice by building the capacity of over 1,000 educators to actively engage in dialogue on the intersection of education and climate change. This included participation in high-level platforms such as COP28 and other international climate forums.

The program gained significant early momentum, revealing a critical gap in the global education sector: the need to ensure that teachers play a leading role in shaping and advocating for effective, context-specific climate education. To address this, the initiative focused on identifying, synthesizing, and sharing over 100 practical, real-world solutions that educators and education leaders could adopt or adapt at both school and system levels.

All resources developed through the program were shared via a new global repository, enabling wide dissemination through the Schools2030 network and beyond. This platform equipped governments with a ready-made suite of teacher professional development tools tailored to local contexts—resources that were previously unavailable to many national education systems.
