Dubai Cares, in partnership with the Varkey Foundation and Plan International, launched the second phase of the Teach for Train (T4T) program in Ghana, building on the success of the initial pilot and incorporating key insights from an external evaluation conducted by Dalberg, which demonstrated statistically significant improvements in instructional performance among participating teachers. This scale-up phase aimed to enhance the quality of in-service teacher training by addressing critical gaps in professional development and strengthening the direct link between teacher capacity building and improved student learning outcomes.
The program established in-service training hubs within existing colleges of education to equip early childhood, primary, and secondary school teachers with student-centered, activity-based, and gender-responsive teaching methodologies. It provided subject- and grade-specific training in literacy, numeracy, and other key subjects. Designed in close collaboration with Ghana’s Ministry of Education, the program aligned with national education priorities and supported the government’s ongoing teacher training reform agenda. This approach not only improved teaching quality but also fostered more inclusive and engaging learning environments, ultimately contributing to better educational outcomes for children across the country.
